Teaching Waste Management

Teaching Waste Management is REthink’s new outreach initiative focused on teaching students about sustainable waste management strategies Madison Area schools . Our goal is to develop an after school program that helps teach waste management to children at a young age.

For the first time ever this fall we will be partnering with We Conserve to conduct trash audits on 10 campus buildings. Our findings will be reported to the buildings staff in hopes of lowering the amount of trash that could have been recycled. After doing the first audit, we will return three weeks later to do a follow up audit and see how the recycling habits are, hopefully, improving. For more information on this project contact Eva Baldinger at eabaldinger@wisc.edu!

More projects are to come as the semester gets going, but if YOU have an idea for a school or a place where you’d like to “Teach Waste Management” come to one of our meetings and share your idea!
