Weekly Update

Hi REthinkers! Here is our weekly update from Tuesday’s meeting.

REthink T-Shirts for sale

REthink T-shirts are made from soft organic materials with the logo below and for only $15 this shirt can become the ultimate new addition to your wardrobe!  Please email anlois@wisc.edu with you size and pick it up at our next meeting!

REprinting Stickers

We would like to print new stickers to hand out for people to place on their favorite water bottle or reusable mug after signing our pledge.  But we are having trouble finding a printing place that will provide highly waterproof stickers that won’t peel or flake on bottles.  Does anyone know of a quality sticker printer? Email Abby or Aaron if you do.

Spring Trash Pickup

With the snow melting away, all the winter’s trash is clear as day.  Help us clean up our city and keep unwanted material from blowing into the lake.  The weather forecast is in the fifties all next week, so we will meet at 11am next Saturday (March 12th) on the steps of Science Hall.

Earth Week Bash (Friday April, 22nd from 11pm-1pm)

Environmental organizations from all around campus will be present to share what they are doing, with all sorts of fun and sustainable activities. REthink will be providing seeds and toilet paper rolls for sustainable planters and craft supplies for decorating a compost bucket. We will also be hosting a photo contest (stay tuned for details). Make sure to save the date and let us know if you would like to host and Earth related event or have  any ideas for Earth Week.

Stuff Swap, Spring Cleaning: Friday April 1st from 2-5

This is a perfect opportunity to get all that old stuff lying in the back of your closet cleaned out and given a new home!  The stuff swap is a no money trading event in which you swap your unwanted items for super cool new gear.  Considering our last stuff swap received such a great student body response, we are thinking about hosting it in a bigger space on campus.  If anyone is interested in helping get the event fully planned and on its feet, please contact Abby or Aaron.  We can use any help we can get!

Why Vote?

In the spirit of the primaries, REthink will be hosting an event on how voting can be crucial to the environment and other areas of our lives such as social justice.  We are looking to partner with some other organizations under the united theme, so let us know if you have any great ideas for partnering organizations!

WE CONSERVE is hiring!

WE CONSERVE has immediate opening for student intern positions. The position is paid, and would start within the next two weeks and have a great chance of continuing into summer full time (35-40 hours a week). WE CONSERVE is looking for committed students interested in waste reduction and creating and implementing new projects in regards to sustainability around campus and in the Madison community. Please email a resume and a short writeup of why you’re interested in WE CONSERVE to Aaron (aconradt@wisc.edu) by this Friday, March 4th by 12pm (noon) sharp. Aaron can also answer any questions you have about the position.
